David Lloyd App: What It Does and What to Do When It’s Down
The David Lloyd Clubs app is how most members book classes and courts, get into the club and order food, so when it fails, your whole visit can stall. This guide covers what the app does, how booking works with and without it, what members reported during an October 2026 outage, and what to do when it will not load.
What the David Lloyd App Does
The app is free to download but only available to members. You can get it from the App Store for iPhone or Google Play for Android. The listings say it needs iOS 15 or later on iPhone and Android 8 or later on Android.
Booking With and Without the App
Booking rights follow your membership type, so non-Platinum members book classes from 8pm the evening before.
No-shows and cancellations: Three class cancellations or no-shows in 30 days cost you advance booking for 7 days, and a cancellation only counts if the class was fully booked and nobody else takes the space. For courts, a no-show or a cancellation with 24 hours’ notice or less counts unless the court is re-booked, and three in 90 days cost you advance court booking for a month.
Your Digital Card and Entry
Add your card to Apple or Google Wallet from inside the app. Reception can check you in manually if your phone, card or the app fails, and spa members can collect a wristband for the spa gate. Our induction guide covers the card in more detail, including a limit error some members hit.
The October 2026 Outage
In October 2026, members reported being unable to open the app for several days, with it stuck on a loading screen on iPhone and Android. Members said David Lloyd told them the app was temporarily unavailable while precautionary updates were carried out. Some members also reported that reception could not book or cancel classes while systems were down.
The app came back within days to about a week. We could not find a cause from David Lloyd, so we have not repeated the explanations members suggested.
What to Do When the App Will Not Work
David Lloyd App FAQs
Is the David Lloyd app free?
Yes. The app is free to download, but only members can use it. It covers booking, your digital card, food orders and membership management. Guest pass users can complete their details in the app before they arrive.
Can you book David Lloyd classes without the app?
Yes. Classes can be booked at reception, in person or by phone, up to 8 days ahead. The app allows 9 days for Platinum members. Booking rights still follow your membership type.
What happens if you miss a class because the app is down?
We could not find an outage exception in David Lloyd’s booking policy. Members report being told to speak to reception to have no-show notifications removed. Cancel by phone or at reception where possible, and keep a note of the date.
Why is the David Lloyd app not working?
Most widespread problems are on David Lloyd’s side, such as the outage members reported in October 2026, and reinstalling did not help then. For a digital card download limit error, see our induction guide. Chat support is available inside the app once it loads.
Can you enter the club without the app?
Yes. Reception can check you in manually if your phone, card or the app fails. The membership terms say your card or token must be used each time you enter, and spa members can collect a wristband for the spa gate. Ask at reception if you are unsure which option your club supports.
Which phones does the David Lloyd app work on?
The App Store listing says the app needs iOS 15 or later, and the Google Play listing says Android 8 or later. You can download it from the App Store or Google Play by searching for David Lloyd Clubs. If it will not install, check your phone’s software version first. Only members can log in.
David Lloyd App: The Short Version
The app covers almost everything, but reception can book and check you in when it fails. Learn the booking windows, keep your card set up, and tell staff about any missed bookings. Our classes guide covers what is worth booking, and our tennis and padel guides cover court booking.
