Meet David Muller: The Person Behind This Site
Who Writes This Site
I’m David Muller, a qualified gym instructor and personal trainer based in Keswick, Cumbria, and the person behind every guide on this site. I hold a Level 3 qualification in Gym Instructing and Personal Training, alongside a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification and Emergency First Aid training.
I’ve been working in the fitness industry for nearly seven years, coaching on the gym floor, building exercise programmes, and helping members understand how to use gym facilities safely and effectively, whether that’s someone’s first week in a gym or an experienced member returning after time away.
That day-to-day coaching experience is exactly what shapes how I write about premium clubs like David Lloyd.
When you spend years explaining to members how to actually get value from a gym floor, a class timetable, or a spa, you develop a practical sense of what genuinely matters to someone deciding whether a membership is worth the cost, not just what a brochure claims.
Why I Built This Site
This site isn’t written from personal David Lloyd membership, I’m upfront about that. It’s built from independent research combined with real industry knowledge of how premium UK health clubs like David Lloyd actually operate, what they typically cost, and what members genuinely experience.
David Lloyd doesn’t publish a fixed national price list anywhere, which leaves prospective members guessing, and that gap is exactly what this site exists to close, starting with our full David Lloyd membership cost guide covering every tier and location.
Working in the fitness industry means I regularly hear directly from gym colleagues and the people I coach about their own experiences at David Lloyd clubs specifically, which keeps the information here grounded in real, current member experience rather than guesswork or marketing copy.
How I Keep This Site Accurate
Every guide on this site draws on a mix of sources:
Our David Lloyd tier list, for example, is built directly from member-reported data rather than official marketing, cross-checked as carefully as the sourcing allows.
Where figures can’t be confirmed as official, I say so clearly rather than presenting an estimate as fact. This matters more in the fitness industry than people often realise, bodies like CIMSPA, the industry’s professional standards body, set the qualification benchmarks that underpin instructor training like my own, and I hold myself to the same standard of accuracy when writing about clubs and pricing.
You’ll see this approach throughout the site, including our honest breakdown of whether David Lloyd is actually worth it, and our comparison of David Lloyd alternatives, which doesn’t shy away from where rival gyms genuinely do something better.
What You’ll Find on This Site
Beyond the core cost guide, this site covers the practical questions people actually have before joining: what David Lloyd’s facilities genuinely include club by club, how to try a club with a day pass or trial before committing to a contract, and an honest, tier-by-tier breakdown of which clubs cost more and why.
More guides are added regularly as I research further into the David Lloyd network and the wider UK premium gym market.
Keeping This Site Current
Pricing and club information change often, refurbishments shift tiers, promotional offers come and go, and membership costs are reviewed annually.
Every page on this site carries a “last reviewed” date separate from its original publish date, and I revisit pages periodically to check the information still reflects reality, not just once and forget.
