David Lloyd App: What It Does and What to Do When It’s Down

Published: Last reviewed:

The David Lloyd Clubs app is how most members book classes and courts, get into the club and order food, so when it fails, your whole visit can stall. This guide covers what the app does, how booking works with and without it, what members reported during an October 2026 outage, and what to do when it will not load.

What the David Lloyd App Does

The app is free to download but only available to members. You can get it from the App Store for iPhone or Google Play for Android. The listings say it needs iOS 15 or later on iPhone and Android 8 or later on Android.

Booking Classes, courts, personal training sessions and children’s swimming and tennis courses can be booked in the app.
Digital membership card Your card sits in Apple or Google Wallet and works at the car park barrier, the club turnstiles and the spa gate.
Food and drink You can order from the Clubroom and pay in the app. See our cafe prices guide.
Membership and club details You can manage your membership, send feedback to your club and see opening hours and pool times.
Guests and children Guest pass users can complete their details in the app before arriving, and parents can fill in the child information form there too.
On-demand workouts A library of workouts is available at home.

Your Digital Card and Entry

Add your card to Apple or Google Wallet from inside the app. Reception can check you in manually if your phone, card or the app fails, and spa members can collect a wristband for the spa gate. Our induction guide covers the card in more detail, including a limit error some members hit.

The October 2026 Outage

In October 2026, members reported being unable to open the app for several days, with it stuck on a loading screen on iPhone and Android. Members said David Lloyd told them the app was temporarily unavailable while precautionary updates were carried out. Some members also reported that reception could not book or cancel classes while systems were down.

The app came back within days to about a week. We could not find a cause from David Lloyd, so we have not repeated the explanations members suggested.

What to Do When the App Will Not Work

Do not keep reinstalling. During the outage members found reinstalling made no difference, so check whether others have the same problem first.
Book through reception. Classes and courts can be booked at the desk or by phone up to 8 days ahead. Members report some clubs are slow to answer the phone, so visiting in person can be quicker.
Ask reception to check you in. If your card will not load, staff can verify you manually.
Tell reception about missed bookings. Members report being told to explain at reception to have a no-show removed. David Lloyd’s booking policy does not set out an outage exception that we could find, so note the date and what happened.
Report it. Use the app’s chat or feedback once it works again, and escalate in writing if a problem keeps happening.

David Lloyd App FAQs

Is the David Lloyd app free?

Yes. The app is free to download, but only members can use it. It covers booking, your digital card, food orders and membership management. Guest pass users can complete their details in the app before they arrive.

Can you book David Lloyd classes without the app?

Yes. Classes can be booked at reception, in person or by phone, up to 8 days ahead. The app allows 9 days for Platinum members. Booking rights still follow your membership type.

What happens if you miss a class because the app is down?

We could not find an outage exception in David Lloyd’s booking policy. Members report being told to speak to reception to have no-show notifications removed. Cancel by phone or at reception where possible, and keep a note of the date.

Why is the David Lloyd app not working?

Most widespread problems are on David Lloyd’s side, such as the outage members reported in October 2026, and reinstalling did not help then. For a digital card download limit error, see our induction guide. Chat support is available inside the app once it loads.

Can you enter the club without the app?

Yes. Reception can check you in manually if your phone, card or the app fails. The membership terms say your card or token must be used each time you enter, and spa members can collect a wristband for the spa gate. Ask at reception if you are unsure which option your club supports.

Which phones does the David Lloyd app work on?

The App Store listing says the app needs iOS 15 or later, and the Google Play listing says Android 8 or later. You can download it from the App Store or Google Play by searching for David Lloyd Clubs. If it will not install, check your phone’s software version first. Only members can log in.
